Journalist shot dead in Galkayo

GALKAYO : 04 FEB 2012—–Former Puntlandi media  journalist was shot dead in Northern Galkayo’  Puntland administered side on Sunday evening , Puntlandi learns.

The witness said that Ali Ahmed  Abdi , around 20s  who was working in Galkayo for the past several years has been  shot dead by unknown gun man outside his home in Galkayo.

Ali Ahmed was Puntlandi’s Galkayo correspondent , for the past one year, but he stopped working on it after he told Puntlandi Administration he was going to Uganda for higher education.

It is second death of Somali journalist in less than a week. A former Radio director was killed on Tuesday in the Somali capital Mogadishu..

According to a friend Ali Ahmed Abdi was a member of Radio Galkayo staff for the past three years . Radio Galkayo, a community radio operating since 1993  has been attacked several times by unknown culprits .
